Candida Detox Symptoms

What Do you Mean by Candida Die-Off or Candida Detox Symptoms?

Herxheimer response is the medical name that has been given to the condition commonly called Candida detox symptoms, which take place inside the host after a yeast infection, as a result when a large number of yeasts have been killed within a short span of time or very quickly using any kind of antifungal medicine. Due to this sudden die off of the yeast, the body is overwhelmed with toxins released from the Candida rapidly dying. Apart from this, such a situation may also occur when the yeasts are food deprived due to Candida diet and they start dying at a relatively faster rate. Let us now look into the Candida detox symptoms which we start noticing in our body.

A study aimed to determine the relation between faecal Candida and diarrhoea, had 107 children who were diagnosed with diarrhoea and 67 controlled subjects without diarrhoea, were all kept under observation. Quantitative stool culture and comparison of lab data with clinical data was used to study the relation. Through the study, 43 of the children with diarrhoea were found to have Candida yeast specimen, and 26 children with diarrhoea didn’t have Candida present in their sample. It was further stated that the presence of Candida was due to usage of antibiotics besides the presence of another enteric pathogen and neither age nor nutrition was found to be the causative factor.

This study showed that a large number of children who suffered from diarrhoea had Candida overgrowth in their stool samples. So it’s clear to say that Candida overgrowth can cause diarrhoea. Another interesting finding of this study was that recent use of antibiotics was a cause of the Candida overgrowth in the patients. So, antibiotic use has shown strong links to this infection. This may be due to the rapid depletion of our healthy bacteria inside our body when antibiotics are used, which normally keep Candida growth under control. Also, the Candida species was less likely to cause diarrhoea in children that were well nourished, which shows that following a healthy balanced diet can help avoid or reduce the chances of Candida infections.

Problematic Symptoms of Candida Detox

Identifying the symptoms that are occurring due to Candida detox can usually be very difficult to pin point, as some Candida detox symptoms may or may not be experienced by some people. The symptoms include the feeling we usually come across in any different infection in our day to day life, but the only difference is that the symptoms are noticed in an exaggerated manner in the die off situation compared to any other disease or adverse conditions. For example, all of us more or less become anxious to many situations in our daily life, but when we talk about Candida detox symptoms, the anxiety level will be temporarily higher in different phases than the normal situation.

A study published in 2006 looked at the symptoms and complaints in 308 outpatients for the presence of Candida species in stool samples. These patients with unspecific symptoms were tested for Candida. The patients were presented with questionnaires and stool tubes for sample collection. The samples were sent to microbiological laboratory and the questionnaires included lifestyle, diseases, symptoms and other factors.  One third of the 308 patients were found to have Candida species in their stool samples. But the study closely associated the smoking habit to Candida. 45 out of 78 smokers in the group had high Candida in comparison to only 68 out of 230 non-smokers, who tested positive for high presence of Candida. The patients with a Candida had the following symptoms: itching, headaches, flatulence, weakness, high appetite for sweets.

This study revealed that smokers have a higher chance of developing Candida infections than non-smokers. So it becomes important to reduce the smoking of cigarettes and cigars to give the body a good chance of recovering from a Candida infection. The study also highlights some of the symptoms of Candida infections, including: a high appetite for sweets. But high sugar foods and drinks should be avoided during the Candida detox phase, as the Candida fungus really thrives on sugar, and can flair-up another Candida yeast infection quickly.

The Candida detox symptoms are both psychological and physical and they include:

  • Constipation

  • Irritability

  • Diarrhoea

  • Alcohol cravings, desire for sweets and carbohydrates

  • Feeling sick all the time

  • Dizziness

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Inability to concentrate

  • Nausea

  • Sinusitis

  • Gastrointestinal distress

  • Sore throat

  • Palpitations in the heart

  • Pain in the joints and muscles

  • Headaches

  • Depression

  • As the yeast’s presence can result in alcohol production, the person may also feel drunk.

Candida detox symptoms depend mainly on the percentage of die off that has occurred and the percentage depends on the treatment or rather killing methods of the yeast. It depends on how strong the type of anti-Candida foods that were consumed, or the antifungals that has been consumed and for how long the person had been consuming the medicine. The condition varies from person to person and may last for weeks or even few days or hours. Some antifungals make the Candida to blow and in such situations, the Candida detox symptoms are also quite adverse in nature.

Treatment for Candida Die-Off

The diet to detox the body from the Candida yeast infection is very similar to the diet adopted in the instances of Candida overgrowth, though there do exist some prominent differences between the two. The diet to cleanse Candida majorly has to include fresh salads, steamed vegetables as well as natural yogurt in moderate extent, to ensure the supply of the necessary healthy bacteria. Fruits like lemon, avocados, olives, and lime are also considered perfect for inclusion in the Candida Detox diet.

Yeast infections are a very common disease which most of us face in our lives and if treated at an earlier stage it is not a serious problem and can be eliminated easily. First and foremost we should keep in mind that we should follow a proper Candida diet by eliminating sugary foods and reducing: carbohydrates, alcohol, caffeine, cheese, yeast bread. But everything should be done in moderation. Feeding them whilst killing Candida cells, will create much more die off and make the situation uncontrollable. We should consume foods with high vitamin C content, which will help in buffering the reaction and releases oxidative stress. The toxins should be kept mobile, which can be achieved by drinking a lot of water. Mild to moderate exercises will boost the immune system and will help in detoxifying. Some deep breathing exercises will be helpful in overcoming the stress caused due to Candida detox symptoms.

What types of foods are worthy to be included in the detox diet?

In addition to the consumption of these items independently, you can combine these foods with each other or you can even consume it in combination with various other spices, oils, herbs, as well as various other agents that are commonly used for cooking. Thus, you need not to compromise on the aspect of taste for emphasizing on health, and that is what is the best part of the diet to cleanse Candida. In this regard, it will be relevant to state that you should include those foods that are nutritious, and help restore the balance in the gut. However, you need to refrain from the consumption of those foods which you might have food sensitivities. Such foods are to be eliminated from the Candida Detox diet at all instances.
In this regard, it will be especially relevant to state that as you start suffering from digestive issues in the instances of Candida overgrowth, you should always opt for those foods that are easily digestible. In addition, you will inevitably need to cut the consumption of processed sugar and bad carbohydrates that offer impetus to the uncontrolled growth of yeasts.
Likewise, it is equally important that you keep yourself well hydrated as it will enable you to retain the pH balance of the gut in the ideal extent.
