Foods That Kill Candida

Foods That Kill Candida

Food and their impact on infections

According to the studies there are four types of infections namely bacterial, parasitic, viral and fungal infection. In order to deal with such infections various antibiotics are taken, but Candida no matter what finds its way to thrive. Unhealthy diet containing sugar and simple carbohydrates helps the Candida to strive in our body. Researches show that certain foods and following a particular diet plan is required in order to kill the Candida. Listed below are the foods that kill Candida:

Herbs and Supplements:

In the list of foods that kill Candida there are certain herbs which work wonders, some of them are:

The main function of aloe vera is to reduce the pH levels thereby creating an inhabitable environment for the Candida to grow. It also helps to detoxify the liver, as the liver is also engaged with the filtering of byproduct of Candida. Aloe vera can be consumed either in liquid form (less than ¼ cup) or in form of capsules. This is definitely one of the best choices for foods that kill Candida out there.

Garlic

It has been found that garlic has powerful antifungal properties, which doesn’t destroy the friendly bacteria in the gut but destroys more than 90% of Candida fungus. It can be either taken in ‘raw’ form or in form of ‘capsules’. It is also used to treat vaginal yeast infection. Garlic is considered to be one of the prominent foods that kill Candida. This property is due to the phytonutrient present in garlic called allicin.

Clove oil

Clove oil is considered to be one of the powerful anti-fungal foods which also boost the immune system. This property is because of eugenol that works its ways to kill bacteria. It is also one of the best anti-oxidants.

Cinnamon

It is a type of anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal herb. Its main function is to stop the growth of yeast and this due to the fluconazole agent present in the cinnamon extract.

Similarly, coconut oil, cayenne pepper, oregano, and tea tree oil are some of the herbs which come under the list of foods that kill Candida.

Formula SF722 supplements

Antifungal Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut Oil

Apple Cider Vinegar for Yeast InfectionThe Journal of Prosthodontics published an article which studied the effects of apple cider vinegar on the Candida species in cases of denture stomatitis. It was found that in comparison to nystatin, apple cider vinegar had a better fungicidal effect than nystatin, proving that apple cider vinegar showed greater control and inhibition when it came to Candida growth. But in case of the acrylic resin specimen both had no influence on their color but it was suggestive that apple cider vinegar lowered the roughness of the surface less in comparison to nystatin.

Another study published by the Journal of Medicinal Food was carried out to look for the antimicrobial properties that coconut oil had on the Candida species. Among the 52 isolates all belonging to Candida species, the most common one was the Candida albicans. It was seen that at 100% concentration Candida albicans was more prone to be killed off by coconut oil in comparison to fluconazole.

The above studies suggest that food like apple cider vinegar and coconut oil have been found to have quite an impact on reducing Candida growth, and have important role to play in their inhibition being amongst the best foods that kill Candida. These also conclude that coconut oil and apple cider vinegar can be used to treat Candida albicans with very strong and clear evidence, which backs up the fact more than ever. It surely helps in understanding the effect food can have on Candidiasis and other Candida related diseases.  When choosing coconut oil or apple cider vinegar products, try to opt for products which are organic range, as they provide more of the beneficial properties which help the body to fight Candida infections quickly.

Candida Albicans Diet

Candida Albicans Diet

The Candida albicans diet is used by those that suffer from yeast infections. The yeast responsible for the infection is called Candida, and it is believed that certain diets can help the body better control the levels of bacteria to get rid of the infection completely. This kind of bacteria can affect the vagina, skin and mouth.

The Research on Candida and Diet

A study by PubMed was undertaken in 1999 to assess the connection between refined carbohydrate intake and infection by Candida Albicans in the human gastrointestinal tract. It was observed that a carbohydrate supplement led to higher Candida growth, but during the study on 28 volunteers, no connection was found. However, a high carbohydrate and sugar diet did show amplified Candida growth in the oral cavity.

Another 2006 study in the ‘British Journal of Dermatology’ was carried out to see any links between Candida Albacans and Food Yeasts in causing chronic Urticaria, prick tests were administered to 100 chronic Urticaria patients. The result was Gell and Coombs Type I/Type III reaction in 36. Food yeasts worsened Urticaria in patients with a positive prick test to Candida Albacans. A low yeast diet would benefit about 26% of chronic urticaria patients.

The above studies indicate that a high carbohydrate diet in humans does not cause Candida to overgrow, but a high carbohydrate and sugar diet can increase Candida growing in the oral cavity. Yet a low yeast diet would be more ideal to avoid future outbreaks of Candida overgrowth. So, high yeast foods and drinks like: beer, cider, wine, and breads (made with yeast) should be avoided if one already has signs of Candida overgrowth.

The Candida Albicans Diet

If you want to try dietary changes to prevent yeast infections then here are the top tips:

1) Avoid sugar: It is said that sugar helps yeast to grow, which is why reducing the amount you eat can help to control the growth of the Candida fungus.

2) Avoid yeast: A number of foods contain yeast, such as fermented foods. These include mushrooms, bread, beer and others.

People choose to go on this candida diet for different lengths of time depending on how severe their symptoms are and how long they have had the infection. Everyone is different, and therefore everyone responds to the diet differently.

Many people claim that the diet can take a month to see any effect, but in many cases it can take much longer. Slowly, when symptoms start disappearing, people will reintroduce these foods into their diet to see whether it’s safe to start eating them again.

Yogurt – A Natural Remedy!

Have you ever heard of a yogurt yeast infection remedy? Although it might sound a little odd, many people successfully use yogurt as a natural way to relieve and to treat their condition.

Yogurt is considered especially useful when it comes to recurring yeast infections, as it helps to prevent the bacteria from growing, and can get it under control again. Yogurt contains “good bacteria” which can help to control the levels of the fungus that causes the yeast infection in your body.

How to Use the Yogurt Yeast Infection Remedy

There are a number of ways in which yogurt can be used for yeast infections. First things first, do NOT use yogurt as a treatment if you could be allergic to it.

Secondly, homemade yogurt could be a good idea as a yeast infection treatment, as it often has more of the live cultures that are needed for an effective treatment. If you do buy yogurt, only get natural plain yogurt and do not purchase yoghurt that contains sugar.

You can either make use of yogurt internally or externally. To use it externally, apply it to the affected area and leave it for around 30 minutes to help relieve some of the painful symptoms of your infection.

Otherwise, eat yoghurt regularly to help keep the levels of bacteria in your body under control.

Does Yogurt Really Work?

Yogurt is most useful when it comes to relieving yourself from the itching and burning symptoms. However, when it comes to using it as a cure there is little evidence to suggest that it actually works. Yogurt only targets the fungus itself, and does not work on the reasons why the fungus developed in the first place. It is also often less effective when it comes to more severe forms of yeast infection.

Probiotics

If you’re looking for a yeast infection natural treatment then probiotics could be one thing that you could explore. “probiotics” live in organisms that are naturally present in our body, otherwise known as “friendly bacteria”. They can help to stop the organism Candida – which causes yeast infections – from growing in your body.

Studies have been done into probiotics as a yeast infection natural treatment. They’ve shown that a particular type of probiotic, “Lactobacillus” is especially useful for stopping Candida from growing in the body. However, the results aren’t conclusive so it’s always important to talk to your doctor before you do anything.

Where Can I Get Probiotics?

If you want to use probiotics as a natural treatment then you can get them available from the drugstore as an oral supplement, and also as a vaginal suppository. Take close notice of how your symptoms change when you’re using them to make sure they really are making things better.

Please Note: It is not recommended that you stop taking any prescribed medication without first seeking your local general practitioners advice.
