Antifungal Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut Oil
The Journal of Prosthodontics published an article which studied the effects of apple cider vinegar on the Candida species in cases of denture stomatitis. It was found that in comparison to nystatin, apple cider vinegar had a better fungicidal effect than nystatin, proving that apple cider vinegar showed greater control and inhibition when it came to Candida growth. But in case of the acrylic resin specimen both had no influence on their color but it was suggestive that apple cider vinegar lowered the roughness of the surface less in comparison to nystatin.
Another study published by the Journal of Medicinal Food was carried out to look for the antimicrobial properties that coconut oil had on the Candida species. Among the 52 isolates all belonging to Candida species, the most common one was the Candida albicans. It was seen that at 100% concentration Candida albicans was more prone to be killed off by coconut oil in comparison to fluconazole.
The above studies suggest that food like apple cider vinegar and coconut oil have been found to have quite an impact on reducing Candida growth, and have important role to play in their inhibition being amongst the best foods that kill Candida. These also conclude that coconut oil and apple cider vinegar can be used to treat Candida albicans with very strong and clear evidence, which backs up the fact more than ever.
